First-time placement advances BBH to international awards competition

Durham, N.C., December 20, 2008 – The BÖWE BELL + HOWELL (BBH) Technical Communications department won its first Distinguished Award from the Carolina Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC), qualifying BBH to advance to the international technical writing competition.

STC chapters award three levels of honors to entries in ascending level: Merit, Excellence, and Distinguished. The stringent requirements rate entrants on content and organization, copy editing, and visual design, and on how well the technical communication met the end users’ needs.

BBH's winning entry is the "6020 Folder and Collector/Transport Parts Catalog". The co-contributors to this entry are: Lisa Pettyjohn, senior technical writer/illustrator and team leader, (Durham, NC), and Susan Varley, senior technical writer/illustrator (Bethlehem, PA).

The BBH Technical Communications department has competed in the STC competition over the last six years at the chapter level and has won several Merit and Excellence awards.

Winning the Distinguished Award at the chapter level qualifies an entry to compete at the international level, and BBH has submitted its entry to the international competition.
